Your Business Pitch

What is the real story? Why does it matter?

If you are going to get your business startup message across to people

  • who lend money to business
  • that invest in startups
  • to whom you want to sell
  • you would like to recruit
  • whose support you need...

... you will need to be able to make a short and sticky statement. The pitch needs to be short to attract attention and sticky so that it leads to action. Action that you seek. Remember what you offer must be special to you and of value to your customers.

So concentrate on making a pitch that has

  • the real story that matters to them;
  • a strong enough message to gain attention;
  • and contains a call to action.

If you can boil down your business idea in this way and keep it within 100 words, it will also help to concentrate your own plan and its transformation into reality.

This is what I call a Business Card Pitch, because the text willl fit on the back of your business card.

Before getting feedback on your pitch from me, I suggest that you work on a few drafts and you might like to try 15 SecondPitch—a very useful little tool to help you discover who you are and what you really wantand view other people's pitches. Or, for the verbal version - take a look at Sean Wise's definition of the Elevator Pitch.
